2. Course Description

口腔颌面外科学是一门以外科治疗为主，以研究口腔器官（牙、牙槽骨、唇、颊、舌、腭、咽等）、面部软组织、颌面诸骨（上颌骨、下颌骨、颧骨等）、颞下颌关节、唾液腺以及颈部某些疾病的防治为主要内容的学科。在本科教学的基础上，本课程重点介绍种植牙、牙槽外科、疼痛、唇腭裂、正颌外科、皮瓣外科的相关理论及新进展，部分章节安排实践操作及见习。

This subject aims to study the prevention and treatment of diseases occur in mouth organs (teeth, alveolar bone, lips, cheek, tongue, palate, pharynx, etc.), facial soft tissue,maxillofacial bones (maxilla, mandible , zygoma, etc.), temporomandibular joint, salivary glands, and certain neck diseases with surgical procedure. Based on the undergraduate course, this one will focus on the theories and latest development related to implant dentistry, alveolus surgery, pain, clefts, orthognathic surgery and flap surgery. Some part of the course will provide chances for practice and internship.

3. Course Objective and Requirement

要求学生掌握种植牙科学、牙槽外科、唇腭裂、正颌外科、皮瓣外科的基础核心理论、知道这些亚学科的常规诊疗程序，了解其新进展，对口腔颌面外科常见术式有基本认识。

This course requires students to grasp the basic theory, to know about the routine medical procedure of implant dentistry, alveolus surgery, clefts, orthognathic surgery and flap surgery. and to keep up to date.

5. Experiment and Internship

正颌外科章节中，学生将实践正颌外科的术前设计部分，包括投影测量、面弓转移、模型外科设计、牙合导板制作等。并有机会进入手术室见习口腔颌面外科常见的经典术式。

The experiments include visual treatment objective, Facebow transfer, model surgery and wafer production in the section of orthognathic surgery. Internship for classical surgery methods is available.
